PRINCETON, N.J., Mar 13, 2002 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Sterling Management Consulting, Inc. announced the release of smcBI Insurance™, a major new release of its smcBI™ product line. smcBI Insurance™ is one of the SMC flagship Business Intelligence products in the emerging smcBI™ series and consists of integrated modules such as Portal, DashBoard, Wireless Alerts, Business Analytics, and Data Architecture.

Sterling smcBI™ Insurance is marketed through Sybase and IBM channels as part of the E-portal and CRM market initiatives.

The smcBI Insurance™ product line is a pre-built, Institutional CRM, business analytics solution for the insurance industry that crosses all lines of business: Life, Property Casualty, Workman's Compensation, Re-insurance, etc. The pre-built set of reports consists of, but is not limited to, some of the following analytics: Loss Ratio, Renewal Risk Characteristics, Policy Owner Profiling, Market Segmentation, Sales Territory analysis, Billed /Earned Premium, Channel Performance, and Forecasting. With over 300 pre-built analytics with `ad hocs' and customizable Business Alerts there is also a wide assortment of delivery methods such as Executive DashBoard, WEB Portal and Wireless for phone or PDA.

Designed for a wide range of responsibilities, smcBI Insurance™ appeals to all levels of senior executives, such as CEO, CFO, Risk Management, Underwriting, Compliance and Sales, as well as business partners and, equally importantly, clients and customers. Additionally, as consolidation continues in the marketplace particularly with the dynamics of Capital Market companies, Banking and Insurance companies merging and blurring the old silos, smcBI Insurance™ Risk Management Analytics are designed to be the philosophical framework to pull the disparate views of the customer to a single P&L point.

smcBI™ Series supports a wide range of platforms, such as Solaris, HP-UX and AIX, AS/400, MVS, Windows NT-2000-98-95-ME as well as DB2, Sybase, Oracle, Informix, Microsoft SQL, and other ODBC relational data stores.

"Those executives who have client level responsibility for profit and loss as well as company level P&L and need to know the underlying reasons for their positions will now be served with that quantitative information as quickly as they ask for it. Not only will the SMC original analytics be readily available, the Pattern Recognition/Detect and Alerts are now followed by the protocols, decisions trees and other options that will extend the executives decision making no matter what the business condition or emergency," said John Gieselman a Director of SMC.

"Whether a four-way split screen on the wall, a DashBoard, a PDA, or a wireless phone for traveling executives and sales people -- integrated, pre- built Risk Management Analytics are available to decision makers," said Technical Director Sol Klinger at SMC. He continued, "This was a very creative effort by the R&D department to bring this next release to the Insurance and Risk Management community. The SMC proprietary architecture is all about managing risk at the leading edge of this Analytical CRM process."

Ed Shea, the New England Regional Director at SMC, added, "While SMC is basically agnostic about the underlying hardware, server brands, configuration and the middle software, this is an end-to-end solution designed to provide an out-of-the-box solution for the Insurance Industry. The huge SMC advantage is that all levels of the analytics are PRE-BUILT and customizable."

Don Carey, the Chief Operating Officer, added quickly, "Think of the power of these analytics to your clients, agents, customers and business partners. You can show their actual and relative position, quantitatively prove your value to them and either raise fees or jam the competition. Analytical CRM or Enterprise Performance Measurement is certainly part of the next generation as we see it."
